How to Test Browser for Security Vulnerability Issues
Written by Pavan Kumar on December 16, 2008
Web browser is the main tool with which you access internet, now-a-days, we even use different ways to access information through internet. Browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, Chrome are the more popular ones and the most used one is Firefox which is fully secure, fast and friendly. There are many security concerns associated with web browsers. Internet Explorer is more prone for such security attacks and is more vulnerable for threats.
It becomes wise for us to be sure that our browser is free of such issues. Here is a tool for you to test your browser if free from security issues. It is Browser Security Test from Scanit. It will run different tests for vulnerability assessments. The tests made depends on the browser you are using. You will be provided with options to run only tests to find bug in specific browser or all tests or if you are an expert, you can also choose the tests of your own.
why you need to run these security tests?
If you are a newbie, you yourself don’t know what you are doing on internet (I agree, you too have a purpose, but you are not sure where exactly what is happening) – if your browser has a vulnerability, there is a great chance that you visit some malicious site and it can leave some badware to you and without analyzing anything, you simply install it. Gone! gone all your controls to that party who has left the badware for you. He may steal your personal information, monitor your activities, show some annoying popups, banners or anything to market his products. There are different such chances and also Antivirus 2009 is also such a tool which hacked google homepage with bad tips.
BTW, I run a securiy test for my browser and here is the result. I’m safe
