6 Year Old Kid Generates Christmas Magic Square in 5 minutes
Written by Pavan Kumar on December 25, 2008
Today, I visited a friend’s birthday party and a Magic Square of his date of birth captured my interest. He told it is a gift of a relative’s child and introduced the child to me. The young boy, Rohit is 6 year old and the Magic Square was his creation. He told, it can be generated in few minutes and prepared for my date of birth in 5 minutes. I asked him to generate for this Christmas and it was ready almost instantly. Here is what the kid wrote.
The left one was what he wrote for the date 25/12/2008 (First row – Christmas day in Indian format) and the right one (US Format – 12/25/2008) was done by me after learning the procedure from him. The Magic Constant (sum of all elements of any row / column / diagonal) is 65 in this case. Check out yourself and you will be amazed. And I am sorry guys, I did not take my cell to the party and don’t have any of his photos, will try to collect it soon.
What is a Magic Square?
Magic Square is a Sqare box of numbers where the sum of all elements of each row / column / diagonal is same in all cases. Take example in the above one:
First magic square 1st row: 25+12+20+08=65
2nd row: 09+19+27+10=65
And that sum constant of all rows / columns / diagonals is called Magic Constant. In this case, it is 65.
So, if you want to learn how to write such a magic square(I bet you can, its very simple and easy), keep subscribed. I will soon blog about it for you readers. For the time being, bookmark this page .
