Show Online Visitor Count Widgets, Badges for Website / Blogs
Written by Pavan Kumar on September 21, 2009
Showing your current users online (if your blog has more) is a matter of pride for most of the budding webmasters and bloggers. This sometimes is helpful in grabbing more subscribers / regular visitors to the website / blog feed. There are many ways one can display the online visitor count and this post can be of help if you are one among those who are looking for multiple alternatives.
1. Whos.amung.us Online Visitor Counter
This one is the most popular badge of its kind to display on your blog. This is having an impressive animation and can match for any color scheme used on your webpages. This also has the feature to track multiple websites and get real time online visitors count for your websites being tracked. There is no registration required and you can customize the widget to suit your theme colors. Try here.
2.BlogFlux Who’s Online – Count Online Users (Textual Widget)
Like the above, this does not require your registration, just enter the website url you want to use the widget, get the code, copy and paste the same on your webpages. Unlike whos.amung.us, this will show a textual display of online visitor count with a link to stats page with world visitor map of recent activity on your website. Try here [http://tools.blogflux.com/whosonline/].
3. Who’s Read – Free Users Online Counter
This is also an anonymous (no registration) service and show the most traditional and decent badge which is not open for customization. Copy and paste a simple html code and you are done. Unlike the above two, this is a HTML only code which does not require the end users to have javascript – this ensures an optimal tracking. Whos.amung.us too provides a non javascript tracking code optionally. Try Who’s Read.
4. WP Wassup Plugin – Real Time Online Visitor Tracking, Spy, Badge Counter
This is a free WordPress plugin which can be used to track your current online visitors with maximum details from your wp-admin. Also they provide widgets to show the current online users for visitors. I have used it for a long time in initial days, but this has the potential to eat up the entire server resources. Its not recommended to use if your blog gets a good number of visitors and/or you are hosted on a shared server. Interested can try here.
