Identify Different Languages with LangID
Written by Pavan Kumar on August 28, 2009
While searching for few rare things online, we sometime need to land on a foreign language page which cannot be understood. In few cases when page is a new one, we don’t even get the translated version of page link on search results. If you want to identify the language of any text / page, you may use a manual method, but if you want more easy and cool way, LangId is your friend.
LangId is a free language identification tool based on Google Ajax API which has a nice interface to provide users with language as well as the country where the language is used instantly. With this you can also identify regional languages which are not supported by Google Translate. It also identifies the regional languages though they have been typed in English.
Also you can paste a sample text from other webpage to know which language is being used on the webpage. LangID does not end with this little job, you can use the service in almost all possible ways of communication of today’s generation. They help you identify the language through URL, mail, tweets and even you can upload a file which contains strange language. They support most popular file formats like doc, pdf, xls and xlsx. This file uploading is wonderfully useful as you can easily understand the language which later can be translated using Google Translate
