How To Convert Unclickable Links on Web Pages to Clickable Links
Written by Pavan Kumar on August 19, 2009
Many forums and blogs out there on the internet do not have a feature of autolinking of urls. This might be a better usage considering SEO factors from webmaster perspective, but users feel it bad to copy the link url and paste the same in their browser. If you are a regular user of such forum or blog where links are not links but just a text, here is the solution for you.
Linkification is a Firefox addon which automatically hyperlinks all the textual urls present on the webpage you browse. The default setting of this addon simply converts all non linked urls on any webpage into clickable links which open in same page. With changing the options of the Firefox extension, you can change the appearance of the link added by this addon by changing either the link color or also you can modify the background of the converted hyperlinks.
It also allows few more features like making the links open in a new window or a new tab. You may also like the features like adding specific domains into blacklist / whitelist. Blacklisting is used when you allow auto linking on every page you view and it makes the specific domain not be be crawled for urls and linked. Whitelisting works in the exact opposite way where you auto-link only a specific website.
The addon installed adds its icon on status bar of your Firefox and when any links on the page are converted, you will see the icon changes to active state indicating that a link has been linkified. On hovering the icon, you will see how many links have been converted in the entire page.
