Youtube Blackout: Dec 19- 21

Great users of Youtube are planning a youtube blackout from December 19 2008 to December 21 2008. Youtube’s new blog post say they are automatically going to demote the videos from their most viewed, popular list and other browse pages. This demotion is based on an alogrithm which decides the video based on content, description and other factors.

This has created an unpleasant situation for few users / contributors of youtube. The video announcement to boycott youtube has gone viral all over but the contributor says google is again unjust in counting the total views of the video. On youtube blackout days, they want users NOT to visit youtube website.

Neither the youtube terms nor this video is going to affect me in any way as I am not a great fan of youtube, but my eyes are on the result of traffic which is going to sink youtube on boycotted days. Here is the video if you wish to watch.

Why don’t they just change from youtube to Veoh or whatever? It’s youtube’s business what they do with their policy….

@stratosg

Like any social site, they have great profiles built there and it takes more time to build such profile in other sites also it is very tough to compete with already dominating ones over there. But personally speaking, I support youtube than these guys…
