Display Twitter Followers On Your Blog
Written by Pavan Kumar on August 30, 2008
Twitter is one of the most popular social networking sites and a microblogging platform which allows users to send and receive updates of other members in their network.
I don’t use twitter so much, but am definitely sure that the total number of people who follow us is a scale of your popularity. As usual, people are interested to follow that person who has more number of followers. Its same case like we display our feed readers or total number of comments.
If you are having a good number of followers and active on twitter, it would be advantageous for you to display the total follower count on your website/ blog. This would again increase the number of followers for your profile.
Twittercounter is a service which counts the number of followers and recent details about your follower count in last 7 days. It also provides buttons which looks like feedburner chicklet to display subscribers. It also provides a script which you may use in your own code so as to display the number of followers in a customized way. Twittercounter also predicts the total followers expected for tomorrow and the end of month.
Hack:
The twittercount button has a small text twittercounter.com at the bottom which you may not want to display. Here is a small html hack to avoid the display of that text. Place the code you obtain from twittercounter in the div tag below [between the <div> and </div> tags].
<div style="overflow:hidden; width:88px; height:19px"> </div>
